You Get a Line and I'll Get a Pole....

It may be a secret, but not for long I guess... WE LOVE TO FISH! So we spend most of all of our weekends (providing I have not procrastinated and my homework is actually done) fishing at a local fishing resort. It's kinda like a Costco, you have to pay for your membership and I think that is where the "resort" part comes in. They have 14 lakes and I enjoy fly fishing while Justin likes the more traditional fishing.

First day of School

Jake and Kennedy are both old enough to go to preschool finally!! They have a great program here at the same school Cole and Kenzie go to that they are enrolled in which means I now have every afternoon Monday through Thursday with no kids:)


Jake was quite annoyed with me taking a picture so this is the best I got of him.


Kennedy was happy to say cheese though:)

Gone fishing again!!

We went fishing ( I may have a small obsession with fly fishing at the moment) and all Jake and Kennedy wanted to do was climb this mountain. Of course I let them, they had fun, they got really dirty, and here are some pictures of their fun!

Gone Fishin'

So here in Colorado we sometimes have a hard time finding stuff too do.... nah just kiddin'! We always have plenty to do these days and especially since recently we have started fishing again alot:)


I like it because it's relaxing and a fun family activity, Justin likes it cause he likes fishing, and the kids love it because, well they get to play in the water and catch our bait:) The catching bait thing takes skill and I have it, but I leave it too the kids because grasshoppers are REALLY gross! For the record I can and do catch them if I have to... Today's' fishing adventure was a little disappointing though because the fish were abnormally small,... you'll see what I mean.

It's a Squirrel!!!

At our house the main living area is upstairs. Outside there are stairs you have to go up in order to make it to our front door. The kids had been playing outside most of the day and they came in occasionally, but they were fine and having fun. I thought someone was seriously hurt as all four of them came RUNNING up the stairs screaming. I know now that they were saying they had a squirrel, but at the time I had NO idea what they were saying just that it was important. I went to the front door only to find Mckenzie holding a squirrel they had caught outside. I immediately told them to let it go, it's wild, and it will bite right??? well it only bit Kenzie twice and all the kids wanted to hold it. I told them no and to let it go and as soon as it was free it jumped off our front porch which is a good 15 to 20 feet up. I think it figured it couldn't take any chances with getting caught again and it bailed....it lived and that was our Monday excitement:)

Mollie Kathleen Mine

The kids always want to take a trip to the mine to see where their dad works so I decided to take them... sort of. This mine is at the entrance of the CC&V Mine that Justin works for. The biggest difference is that he works in at open pit. The MK Mine is an underground mine, but they have a visitors center so this is the one I chose to take them to. From some of the pictures You can see the top of the mountain and this is the open pit mine at 11,000 feet elevation. They had fun and it was interesting to see some of the old mining equipment.

Florrisant Fossil Beds

Today we went to the Fossil Beds National Park. I was a little worried when we got there because it is not really in the trees and you have to walk quite a bit. The visitors center had an activity book for the kids to complete while we were out walking which helped make the kids a little more excited. Cole was the one who wanted to go and see the fossils and the others were not SO excited about the idea, but we went and enjoyed our selves anyways. We went for just over a mile hike and everyone did pretty good until the last bit where Jake continuously reminded me that he "was too tired" and he "didn't want to walk no more". All in all the weather was great, we spent good time together, and the kids earned their "junior ranger" badges.

Green Mountain Falls

Since moving to Colorado we have been kinda bored here. It has been hard to adjust to only knowing "ourselves"... No friends, No family, Nobody:) So the kids and I go out and check out different areas that are near by and this is a place we found yesterday.

We had a great time and the creek running behind the park was an added bonus.
